Viral dubai pistachio kunafa chocolate homemade chocolate recipe by Thecozyplates

The Personal Story :

I Spent 1 Hours Making the Viral Dubai Chocolate. Was It Worth It?

I’ll be honest. When I first saw the Dubai Pistachio Kunafa Chocolate, I rolled my eyes. Another viral food trend.

Then I tried a bite from a friend who flew it in from Dubai.

4 hours later I was toasting kunafa in my kitchen at midnight.

If you’re curious what the fuss is about, here’s my honest take + the home recipe that’s 90% cheaper.

Good news: you don’t need to fly to Dubai or wait 3 hours in line.

This recipe gives you the exact same bar in 45 minutes with ingredients from any grocery store.

Yesss the Dubai Viral Kunafa Chocolate 🔥

This is the one that blew up on TikTok/Reels. It's the pistachio + crispy kunafa + chocolate bar turned into a dessert.

Here’s the home version everyone’s making:

Dubai Viral Kunafa Chocolate Recipe

_Makes 1 slab or 8-10 bars_

Ingredients

Kunafa Filling

- 120g kunafa/kataifi pastry shredded phyllo

- 50g butter

- 350-400g pistachio cream / pistachio paste

- 1 tbsp tahini - optional but gives that authentic Dubai flavor

- Pinch of salt

Chocolate Shell

- 400g milk chocolat or mix milk + dark

- 2 tbsp neutral oil- helps it set shiny

Toppings

- Crushed pistachios

- Edible gold dust - optional, for that Dubai luxe look

Method:

1. Toast the Kunafa:

Break kunafa into small pieces. Melt butter in a pan, add kunafa and toast on medium heat for 8-10 mins until deep golden and crispy. Set aside to cool.

2. Make the Filling:

Mix toasted kunafa + pistachio cream + tahini + pinch of salt. It should be thick but spreadable. Chill 15 mins.

3. Prep the Mold:

Melt half the chocolate with 1 tbsp oil. Brush into silicone bar molds or line a loaf pan with parchment. Chill 10 mins to set.

4. Fill:

Add a thick layer of pistachio - kunafa filling. Leave 5mm at the top.

5. Seal:

Melt remaining chocolate + oil. Pour over to seal. Tap to remove bubbles. Sprinkle crushed pistachios.

6. Set: Fridge for 30-45 mins until fully hard. Pop out and enjoy the snap!

Pro Tips

- Crunch is everything: Don’t skip toasting the kunafa till it’s really golden

- No pistachio cream? Blend 1 cup roasted pistachios + 3 tbsp condensed milk + 1 tbsp oil

- Bar vs Cake: For cake version, use this same filling between chocolate cake layers and pour ganache on top
