 Gajar ka halwa a classic Asian winter treat! 😋 Here's a simple recipe:



*Ingredients:


- 1 kg grated carrots (gajar)

- 1 liter full-fat milk

- 2 cup sugar (add to taste)

- 1 cup ghee

- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios)

- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder

- A few strands of saffron (optional)


Steps:

1. Cook the carrots in a heavy-bottomed pan, heat ghee and saute grated carrots on medium heat for 5-7 mins until soft.

2. Add milk and stir well, and simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally until milk reduces and carrots are tender (about 1-1.5 hours).

3. Sweeten it up add sugar, mix, and cook until it thickens further.

4. Add cardamom powder, nuts, and saffron. Mix well.

5. Cook until halwa thickens and ghee separates. Serve warm or cold, garnished with more nuts!
